The Wharf Specials: For an Exquisite Culinary Affair

The Wharf Specials: For an Exquisite Culinary Affair

SEP 24 2019

Since 1988, The Wharf has been one of the most popular premier waterfront restaurants in the Cayman Islands, famous for offering fine dining under the stars on a beautiful waterfront setting on the shores of the Caribbean Sea.

Now, freshly returned from the low season summer break, Executive Chef Christian Reiter and his international team of chefs are back at The Wharf to amaze diners with exciting dishes and recommended special seasonal menus.

The weekly specials menu is refreshed every week, so there is always something new to try, depending on the season and the produce that local fishermen and farms are supplying. Chef Reiter's modern and refined approach has consistently enhanced seasonal produce and delivers some of the best food in the Cayman Islands.

The Wharf's special menu offers a range of first-class appetizers, entrées and desserts - from a creamy mushroom soup with white truffle oil and parmesan croutons, to a deliciously decadent tropical coconut pie with dark rum glazed pineapple. It also offers a chef-recommended section, where a two-course meal, including a glass of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc or Argentine Malbec, possibly creating a dilemma: who wants to choose between an appetizer or a dessert?

Appetizers include a yellow beet-apple salad with fried goat's cheese and a smoky lemon herb dressing, or a creamy cauliflower soup with a truffle oil drizzle. The dessert offering is a chocolate triangle with stewed berries, candied nuts, and vanilla ice cream.

Three entrées are highlighted in the chef-recommended section of the special menu: a Caribbean-style beef stew with pappardelle pasta, green peas, and roasted peppers; pan-fried red snapper in a coconut curry sauce with jasmine rice, sautéed spinach, and jalapeno chutney; or baked potato gnocchi with gorgonzola sauce and grilled asparagus. Caribbean special food at its best.

Why not arrive for dinner a little early and have an aperitif at our picturesque Oceanside bar – “Ports of Call”? Here, you can sip a Happy Hour drink any evening from 5 pm to 7 pm as you watch the sunset.

No evening at The Wharf would be complete without the nightly feeding of the resident tarpons which takes place at 7 pm and 9 pm. These enormous fish, weighing up to 80 pounds, gather around from early evening anticipating their feeding. It's a show that has become world-famous.

All in all, The Wharf's setting, ambience, special menu, and chef recommendations make for a magical evening of Cayman Islands cuisine.
